A great installation must first start with a flat, clean, and dry subfloor without squeaks and movement. We offer complete subfloor sanding and liquid moisture barrier installation, allowing us to glue your flooring down as needed. Whether your floors are pre-finished or site-finished, sanding the seams of your subfloor with an edger will not simply flatten your floor to an acceptable level. Drum sanding your sub floor will work out the ridges over a greater area of your floor and create a much flatter surface. This also removes the sheetrock and paint residues that keep your floor from completely drying out.
Once sanded, we can dry out your floor to the same moisture content as the wood being installed in order to prevent future movement. We are seasoned experts, exceeding industry standards on all of our installations.
We pride ourselves as creative artisans who really enjoy custom installation challenges. We work with any wood type and board width. We own and operate a 4,000 sq. ft. woodworking facility where we hand mill all of our vents, transitions, medallions, and other custom features. We also have a spray booth where we can pre-finish components to match color and sheen level of any project including hand distressing and ten coats of finish.

On all our flooring projects, our goal is to provide the cleanest, flattest, and best protected floors in the industry. Other installers may over-sand, reducing the overall life of your floors. Additionally, the use of incorrect finishes or finishing procedures will require deeper sanding at a future refinish. We can provide you the most durable, topical finishes possible. With proper care and maintenance, a hardwood floor can last over 100 years.
We use Bona Kemi’s commercial-grade finishes and pride ourselves with giving you a floor and finish that can last a lifetime. Give us a call and we can explain the differences between oil-modified, Swedish, low VOC water-base, penetrating oils, and ultraviolet cured finishes. All are available in multiple sheen levels and each hold their own advantages. We can provide hundreds of stain color options and many finish options to custom cater to your specific needs and lifestyle.

We pride ourselves on being conscientious woodworkers. We offer dust-free installations for our on-site and pre-finished flooring, with the use of cutting tents and vacuums connected to all of our milling equipment.
Many contractors will say that they contain dust, but most have inadequate systems. We offer true dust containment, keeping the dust under control in your home. We use a powerful vacuum system using a cyclone action to filter and collect between 80-90% of all dust. This system, combined with a bit of clean up and detailing has been very successful.
For complete, 100% dust containment we also offer a dust extraction option for an additional charge.

For the customer that wants all dust captured, we offer 100% dust containment and extraction for an additional charge. Our standard dust control option utilizes in-home containment reservoirs, capturing 80-90% of dust. This dust extraction system utilizes a 29hp curb mounted vacuum that overpowers all equipment and pulls the dust out of your home and to an exterior dust reservoir. This method has proven to be 100% dust-free. Additional charges are due to the expense of running and maintaining the equipment.

Cabinets
We design and build custom cabinets for any room in your home. Our experienced woodworkers will manufacture custom sized boxes, drawers, and cabinet doors to match any style. Through years of experience, our cabinets are expertly constructed and built to last.

We will help you design custom cabinets and storage solutions to transform your space. Our custom designs include any wood type, size, and style you desire including your choice of hardware, pulls, and knobs.

During our design process, we will measure your space to custom fit cabinets to any room in your home. Construction will take place off-site, where we will build your cabinets in our 4,000 sq. ft. woodworking facility. Once they are complete, we will stack, hang, and level your new cabinets with precision.

We offer a wide variety of cabinet finishes including stains and paint. Once your new cabinets are installed we will complete all necessary finish work like trim, toe kicks, spacers, and touch up to give your space that sophisticated and stylish look.
Interior
RENOVATIONS
We offer interior renovations and repairs for any room in your house. Whether a leak has caused damage to your walls and floors or you want to update your home to make it your own, we can help with every step of the journey. From removal of old or damaged materials to custom cabinets and seemless floor transitions, we can make your house the home you have always dreamed of.

We can demo and remove debris for your project including old flooring, drywall and trim, old cabinets, and disconnected utilities. If any surfaces seem to contain toxic materials, we will require analysis from an authorized tester. If toxic materials are identified, an abatement will need to be completed at the customer’s responsibility before demolition can continue.

Once demolition is completed, we will get to work adding or removing any utilities necessary. From electrical, lighting, plumbing, and mechanical, we can ensure the project is done right and your room functions to your needs and desires.

Once utilites are in place and local code requiremets are met, we will close your walls back up and begin the finish process with new cabinets, trim, flooring, tile, appliances, fixtures, and whatever else your project requires. We will make your new space beautiful, bringing your design dreams to life.

We are licensed contractors who follow local code for all renovation projects, including proper permitting for structural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work. During the renovation process we adhere to proper procedures for city inspections.
STAIRS
& RAILING
Prewitt Woodworking is experienced at installing and refinishing treads, risers, and railing for custom staircases. Whether you are reworking a brand new staircase or refinishing your treads and risers to match your hardwood floors, we can take care of your project every step of the way.

We offer many options for sanding, finishing, or refinishing your stairs. We can use your existing treads and risers, patch and repair any damage from carpet or runners, sand and refinish to match any style. Or we can custom fit new treads and risers perfect for your home. All sanding and finishing takes place off-site in our woodworking facility where we sand and finish using our spray booth to achieve high-quality results. This also leaves your home clear and clean during the work process. And we can provide temporary treads if your home requires them, giving you safe access while work is being completed.

Once your treads and risers are completed in our woodworking facility, we custom fit and install them at your home. We make sure the existing surface is level and smooth so your new treads sit just right. We also complete any needed finish work like skirtboarding, trim, moulding, and custom reveals and returns.
